Xi Editor might be a bit more popular than acme. We know about 16 links to it since March 2021 and only 13 links to acme. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
Everyone should try Acme for a month and then go back to your favourite editor. http://acme.cat-v.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
Hmm, so while he was busy optimizing and learning and tweaking his keyboard setup, others invent game changing programming languages like Go, and then also write text editors that make heavy use of the mouse, and of mouse chording: http://acme.cat-v.org/ So I’m sceptical whether this approach of spending ages on this really is that productive, cost-benefit-wise. Usually it doesn’t stop there, but this optimization... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Uzbl (https://www.uzbl.org/) used to do that but it seems it was too heavy in practice. Today I'm more interestea in turning the web into a more textual format to integrate it in acme (http://acme.cat-v.org/) which is already built around modularity. Making the web a content provider and letting me interact withit the way I want. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
As you may have guessed form my username, I enjoy the acme editor. Source: 11 months ago
Back in the Plan 9 days, with the acme text editor, a non-monospace font was default and fairly common to use. Whilst I was a command line guy before and still a command line guy after, the dynamic font width wasn't *too* bad once you get used to it (Though yes, it is less efficient). Source: about 1 year ago
Was confused until I realised I'd confused Zed, with Xi[1] which is also rust based, and which incidentally has a frontend called "Xim".. Also there's a wiki-editor (like Tomboy[2]) called "Zim"[3]. [1] https://github.com/xi-editor/xi-editor. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Project site linked from the GitHub[0] is https://xi-editor.io. Linked doc is a mirror of this[1], which was afaik originally written by Raph Linus. [0]: https://github.com/xi-editor/xi-editor. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
You’re referring to Raph Levien’s work on Xi [0]. Not really just a vim clone. In Fuchsia, it would have been the basis of all text editing services. If nothing else, it seems to have popularized rope data structures [1] for newer text editors. [0]: https://github.com/xi-editor/xi-editor. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Helix is awesome, though once Lapce (spiritual successor to Xi editor) gets the Helix/Kakoune editing model, I may have to jump ship. Source: 12 months ago
I am very surprised that you haven't even mentioned Xi text editor, which is (was) designed as a microservice to start with, separating the text editor core from the GUI. Source: over 1 year ago
