  • Help with career choices
UI-UX pays well in general but the main thing you must work on will be a portfolio. Take a few classes in GSD since I know Harvard has great design classes but since Harvard doesn't have an HCI program or something similar it is something you will have to put a lot of time into developing. Go onto https://cofolios.com/ and look at some portfolios so you know what you're getting into. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Does anyone know what the best websites are for portfolios???
I am a junior in college and I realized it's time for me to create a portfolio. Throughout my search, I have stumbled upon some AMAZING portfolios that are so unique and interactive. I saw them on a site called cofolios.com. It made me motivated to have a portfolio like those but I have no clue where to start. I don't want something basic using Wix or Squarespace. Does anyone have any tips on what sites are the... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Tips for applying UX Internship?
Your website itself can be pretty simple, since the star of the show is your case studies. Webflow is free for students and has portfolio templates you can use. Check Cofolios to reference portfolios of students who successfully landed internships at big tech companies. Some of them may be a bit outdated or full-time professionals now, but they're all juniors in general, which is what you want to look at (hiring... Source: over 1 year ago
  • UI design case study
Https://cofolios.com is a great site for leading portfolio and case study examples! Source: over 1 year ago
  • Google UX Certificate -> first job?
I'd recommend doing some competitive research on portfolios. Check out cofolios.com, maybe scope out 20-30 portfolios that catch your eye, write down your observations, do a design sprint for your portfolio, get it reviewed either on reddit or on adplist, apply whatever feedback you got, then keep applying and iterating. There is a certain element to applying that makes it a numbers game, but if you keep on doing... Source: over 1 year ago
  • I feel like I went to school in the wrong field.
Again, I recommend ADPList for mentorship. When working on your portfolio, try referencing successful junior portfolios (cofolios.com) over senior portfolios, as hiring managers look for different traits from senior designers. Feel free to DM me if you want a portfolio review. Best of luck! Source: almost 2 years ago
  • CS graduates who chose not to go into software development, what do you do now?
I'd recommend doing side projects while you're in school like redesigning a website or interface. Employers don't care about the end result, they only care about the process and your rationales. Here's a good website to check out others' portfolios from top companies. I had a list of portfolios but they appear to be down or no longer available, but here's a basic one. The process for this one is like: context ->... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Just changed my portfolio’s background from light to dark. Went from no interviews to 4 interview invitations in 2 days.
I don’t really feel like sharing my portfolio here, but there’re tons of stunning dark-background portfolios on https://cofolios.com and https://www.bestfolios.com/home. Source: over 2 years ago
  • NYIAD UX Design
Did a BS in Computer Science but went for UX design instead. I never did a UX bootcamp or program but I took some UX courses back in university and did end up with a few UX projects to add onto my resume. You NEED a portfolio to show off your design work; look at some samples from big companies here and make your own projects to put onto your resume. UX recruiters / designers don't care about how pretty your end... Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Personal project
Have you looked at https://cofolios.com yet? I'm starting out just like you and I go there for inspiration all the time. You're definitely on the right track. Create wireframes. Create hi-fidelity prototypes. Conduct more research. Explain your decisions. Write write write. Go to YouTube and look at the UX interviewing process (app critiques, portfolio explanations, design challenges, whiteboard challenges). Get... Source: about 3 years ago
