  • Subreddit for scanner events?
They don't. Citizen App probably what you want, but it's only useful in big cities. Source: 16 days ago

Should I also "chill out" and not tell them about https://smart911.com, https://www.911cellular.com, https://active911.com, https://citizen.com, and all the other emergency related services out there?! Source: about 2 months ago

  • What are the worst US cities in your opinion
As an SF Peninsula native who has lived in several cities in the region and with moderate traveling experience throughout the country and also Mexico, I can say you are precisely wrong on all counts lmao. All big cities suck, but San Jose is far better than SF and especially Oakland (which I've lived in, BTW), both of which are significantly more ridden with crime. In fact, just now I checked the Citizen app,... Source: 10 months ago

  • Is this for real? I haven’t seen it hit the news yet.
It's an app for user generated crime reports in your area. The app sends alerts to any of your neighbors who also use the citizen app. Seems like a good idea but I've unfortunately only ever seen it deliver false alarms ( aka Cars backfiring = gunshots ) and racism ( aka "suspicious" people walking in your neighborhood ). • WTF Nextdoor? Over 130 click to disable email and push notifications?
    > Nextdoor already has one, and they're trying to take it away. Once a day isn’t “engaging” enough when Nextdoor’s biggest competitor is built around real-time notifications of fear-porn-near-you: https://citizen.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
