  Maybe you had a student discount, but even then, I think all price levels have gone up since then. You can check the current regular and student prices of the exam (and see some bundle options) at comptia.org. A number of established, authorized training services have discounted vouchers though so if you don't have a student discount you might look into those options. I would suggest you to study/take the CompTIA Fundamentals (ITF +) and the CompTIA A+ certification exams.
