  • Add subtitles to a YouTube video as a viewer
Otherwise you can create the subtitles with captionfy.io and people can watch the video with your captions within the platform. It uses the original YouTube video, so the views still go to the YouTuber. Source: over 2 years ago
  • [Tips & Tricks] Easy way to create stylized subtitles for YouTube videos
This website captionfy.io has a free editor that allows you to create captions and subtitles for YouTube and add colours, italics and etc. Here is a tutorial on how to do it, but site itself is simple enough. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • What's the reason for so many YouTube channels keeping on subcontracting closed captions to third parties whose native language doesn't even seem to be English, when YouTube already does it automatically for free and more accurately?
A recent update from YouTube allows YouTubers now to invite others to be "Subtitle Editors" for their channel. It is the closest they got to the old Community Captions (where anyone could caption the video, not only the "allowed" users). There are also free alternatives to Community Captions like Captionfy and Amara, but probably many YouTubers don't know about them. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Send me your Jerma Subtitles!
If you want to contribute, but don't know where to get started, I recommend using Captionfy.io or amara.org. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • [Work Needed] Closed Captioning/Subtitling for Free

  • The Jerma985 Subtitled Videos Repository™
If you would like to request a video to be captioned, please use the request captions feature on captionfy.io. If you would like to help contribute using the site, I recommend using collaborative captions. If this information becomes outdated, message me. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Can you add auto-generated subtitles to videos uploaded by someone else?
Hi! There is a site captionfy.io that offers this. You can create your own subtitles and publish them on the site. Then anyone can watch the video with your subtitles (from within the site, until the YouTuber uploads your subtitles to YouTube). It embeds the original video, so the YouTuber gets the views. Hope it helps! Source: over 3 years ago
  • Professional Subtitling Softwares
Can I use this type of open source software to train myself on Youtube subtitling? I'd like to help a science popularization channel, but since the website stopped supporting community captions, I'm not sure how to do it. I know of Amara and I heard of another website walled captionfy.io, but I don't know what they're worth, or how those websites deal with privacy. Source: over 3 years ago
