Cross-Platform Compatibility
Bodymovin exports animations that can be easily rendered on multiple platforms like iOS, Android, and the web using Lottie libraries, ensuring consistent experiences across devices.
Scalability
Since Bodymovin uses vector graphics, animations can be scaled without loss of quality, making them adaptable to various screen sizes and resolutions.
Small File Size
Bodymovin animations typically have a smaller file size compared to traditional video files, improving load times and reducing bandwidth usage.
Ease of Animation
Designers can use familiar tools like Adobe After Effects to create complex animations, which Bodymovin then converts into a JSON format for developers to implement.
Interactive Animations
Bodymovin supports interactive animations, allowing developers to control playback with external inputs such as user interactions, providing more engaging user experiences.

Yeah, complex SVG's are so much more bandwidth, computation and energy efficient than raster images - up to a point! But in general use we are not at that point and there's so much more we can do with it I've been meaning to let coding agents take a stab at using the lottie library https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web to supercharge the user experience without needing to make it a full time job. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

However, keep in mind that contributing can be challenging if you're not familiar with animation basics and the lottie format. Apparently what the Synfig project recommends nowadays is to export for web (Lottie). And from there, you must use another software (from a series of software called Lottie, Open Source too) to render for a given platform. The one to export your lottie file to animated SVG would likely be lottie-web. The README says there is a SVG renderer. Source: over 3 years ago
One of my initial workflows was using the afterfx.exe and then running a script to import CSV files and render to png After that I switched to using Bodymovin and Lottie and vector files, and then using Caspar CG or mplayer to play out. https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web. Source: over 3 years ago
