  • BPYTOP - a fun HTOP alternative :-)
Check out btop. It’s a rewrite of bpytop in C++. Both are from the same author. FYI, bpytop is also a rewrite of bashtop in python. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Btop looks great
As far as I remember, the guy made first the bashtop, that was slow as molasses but looks cool. Then he made bpytop that is the same idea but ported to python, and then finally ported to C++ and we got just btop. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Share your greatest free tools
Bashtop - Seriously, I my brain can't follow columns without some kind of order to the madness. Ty bashtop. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How to return current and average cpu utilization, maybe the top process name too?
There is https://github.com/aristocratos/bashtop with prettier and more readable output compared to top, in my opinion. It also has a port on python and c++. Source: about 2 years ago
  • My fans go brrrrrr
🤔 I've found that the data Vitals reports isn't always correct, not to mention it uses far to much system resource for what it does. Have you tried bashtop? Source: about 2 years ago
  • Bashtop showing core 6's usage at 100% even though the application which uses the most cpu is only at 11%, what's happening here?
I could not find a definite source, but the images in the documentation: https://github.com/aristocratos/bashtop show the same tendency. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Laptop as a Server
I prefer to use SSH for remote terminal access with SCP for transfering files and SSHFS for easy drag and drop. I got an old laptop set to autologin and startup a TUI program (terminal user interface) bashtop looks pretty slick. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Is there a process monitor similar to the Windows Task Manager?
There are also bashtop and bpytop. All three are very similar and made by the same dev, but are written in different languages and have slight UI differences. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Bpytop: Linux/macOS/FreeBSD resource monitor
It isn't even just the same program in two languages! He started it all with a bash version (named bashtop, here: https://github.com/aristocratos/bashtop)! - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Need Help ! I Can't Find this Awesome macOS System Monitor Utility
Wild guess here. It could be some variation of bashtop. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Btop
Looks pretty much like bashtop. Big plus for C++ though. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Why so many tops
Currently I prefer bashtop or its Python port Bpytop. Source: over 2 years ago
  • ATOP seems more intuitive than htop...what's your throught?
Atop is pretty dope. But Bashtop is also worth taking a look at. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is anyone who transfer from Bash to PowerShell in Linux?
It’s all about picking the right tool for the job. Don’t overkill something with some elaborate python code or c code for example, when it can be quickly written in a unix shell. Don’t underestimate either, writing a full blown UI these days isn’t very efficient, but there are a few I’ve seen in the past that are impressive (and I would imagine written purely for the sake of it) and I don’t mean glue ui elements... • Distro to revive my laptop
I don't know anything about Linux Lite, but I have an old laptop with 4GB of RAM too. I had the Cinnamon desktop on it at first. Seemed a little slow. Looking at it with Bashtop, it seemed it was using 2GB to run. Then I tried Linux mint XFCE. Bashtop said the OS was taking up about 1GB to run. Source: over 2 years ago
  • After starting up, have to click on the menu button numerous times to access it.
I had the Cinnamon desktop on the laptop prior to this. The menu worked as soon as it was clicked. Then xfce isn't designed to be as heavy on resources. And, it isn't. I've monitored both using Bashtop. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Enhanced UI in emacs.
Please take a look at the screenshots of bashtop. I'd say it is one of those terminal applications that have a great user interface. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Help developing terminal based applications
For Bash and Python check out bashtop (it has been recently ported to python, there is info about it in the readme). Source: about 3 years ago
  • I made a terminal utility to monitor some system stats. Was wondering if you guys know of anything better or if I should continue dev work on it since we need it?
I'm a big fan of bashtop. Seems similar. (Screenshot). Source: about 3 years ago

I would check out https://github.com/aristocratos/bashtop, and https://amanusk.github.io/s-tui/ for inspiration! Source: about 3 years ago
  • Scifi Computer Displays
If you are running Linux on any of those monitors, something like bashtop may be just the thing for your cyber lust. Source: about 3 years ago
