Arch is a popular Linux distribution(basically an os). Him saying that he uses arch is basically a joke that arch Linux users will always mention that they use the distro. (Also a penguin is also the Linux mascot). Source: 4 months ago
Arch sends distribution news every week or so, usually in one or two paragraphs. https://archlinux.org/ I've followed the gitlab migration and every package and distribution change that warranted community notification for more than a decade. It's such an empowering feeling to have tracked all the changes to the distribution over a decade. Since you want to use Linux in your job function, I would suggest you start with Arch Linux OS. https://archlinux.org/ Arch linux and arch based linux's like Manjaro, start you off in teaching you linux by making you install it and do everything from the command line. Nothing gets installed unless you want to install it. They have an extensive Arch Wiki that will walk you through anything you might need to learn. Source: 7 months ago

Github.com doesn't have any AAAA dns records so it probably doesn't support IPv6, which is what you're using to connect to archlinux.org. If you run ip a does your main interface have a IPv4 address assigned like 10.0.0.x or 192.168.1.x? Source: 9 months ago
Whoa, whoa, whoa -- don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You have a chainloading issue with grub for the other dual-boot OS'es. Get Arch up and running and then add the dual-boot entries to your grub config (many times they will be autogenerated) and go from there. Wiki.archlinux.org is the place to start, the install guide is on the right of the main archlinux.org page. Source: 9 months ago

Newer hardware benefits a lot from up-to-date kernel and drivers. Therefore distros like Arch, Fedora and openSUSE Tumbleweed (and distros that are based on these) are preferred. Source: 10 months ago
I have a computer system I don't touch very often (maybe once every six, travel computer, not a laptop). Whenever I upgrade the computer I always check for things on archlinux.org to make sure I don't need any additional steps. I've only had one thing needed in the last year which is the same for my primary desktop. Single line copied direct from the official web page and it was done. My primary desktop has...
