There are plenty of video editors available. Go to alternativeto.net which allows you to search for, well, alternatives to your existing apps. Source: 4 months ago
Just recently I created a post showcasing a library I wrote and the first comment was: there is this other package that does that already. Sure it does, sort of, but its not a silver bullet just as pretty much anything. For applications there are platforms like https://alternativeto.net/ where people can vote for/against them, suggest alternatives and describe the differences between them. I've googled for... I stumbled upon this great looking Todo app named "Twos" on my quest to find a suitable self-hostable todo app. The app is tagged as "self-hosted" on alternativeto.net, but it is not (yet) self-hostable. According to the devs "self-hosting" is on their rodmap, but currently not prioritized due to a low number of votes. Source: 7 months ago
My scroll wheel has been broken for a while now (scrolling almost completly randomly), and on windows I used to use something called xmouse. How the thing worked was when I held a selected button it would change movement to scroll by scrolling in the direction and locking cursor position. Wine with it does not work. I also tried: looking thru alternatives on alternativeto, making my own python script and input... Source: 7 months ago

That said, I usually check on the app maker's site to see if they have a version that will work with my old Mac. MacUpdate will show the version number, sometimes it will be a dropdown to see older versions. A lot of times I go to alternativeto.net to see if there is an alternative that will have the same function. Source: 9 months ago

Only use Google, for what you absolutely need to. When possible, use alternatives. LibreTube, Protonmail, Searx or DuckDuckGo as search engines, etc. Look tools in privacyguides.org or alternativeto.net. Many of this apps are better, than Google counterparts (LibreTube has no ads, returns dislikes, and has sponsorblock, but you can't comment or log into Google). Source: 10 months ago

If you’re using specific programs for art/design/video editing, you may not be able to use the programs you’re used to. If something you normally use isn’t available on Linux, there’s almost always an alternative you can try out. Sometimes there’s ways to set up Windows-only programs through something called WINE, but that’s not always a guarantee. I always recommend at least getting familiar with Linux-native... The big question here is whether Android/OneUI will work with the software experience you've set up for yourself or if it can offer a similar one of it's own. I don't think I can answer that one for you, but as long as the apps you're currently using are available on the Play Store or Galaxy store, or you can find a suitable alternative on alternativeto.net then you should be able to use the S8+ without many issues.
