Sometime back I was looking for a job and I promised myself to share a few things I did differently(to my resume) if I proceeded to the last stage of the interview. That has come to pass. So here goes: - I used visualcv.com to create my resume. Since there is a watermark on the last page, I downloaded the PDF and used ilovepdf.com to remove that last page. - My resume bullets were also a bit below average. So I used the method outlined in Austin Belcak email (there are quite a few tools/tricks in that email): How to write job-winning resume bullets (Screenshot attached below) - Then I fed my previous resume bullets to chatgpt. I asked it to rewrite the bullets using various bullet frameworks. For example: Please re-write the above bullets using the 'action verb + metric/result + task' framework( I saw it on this site: https://resumeworded.com/resume-bullet-points) - I kept asking chatgpt to tweak the bullets and be creative(imagine I was...with experience in.. Kind of prompts). For example 10 variations for one bullet then I picked the best one. - For the role, I came across it by searching 'job title + hiring' on LinkedIn - then used last month's filter to remove ghost jobs(and also check posts) - The role then re-directed me to apply on the company website - Focusing on local jobs also assisted because I knew any role that was vetted using ATS I would be automatically out. - Luck played a role also because I knew I was qualified and happened to come across the role at the appropriate time.
