Firebase is a cloud service designed to power real-time, collaborative applications for mobile and web.
The frontend is built in React (a lot of react-bootstrap). It is deployed and hosted using Google Firebase. Firebase doesn't allow for much configuration because everything is auto-managed, but it's super easy to use and helped us get started quickly. The frontend was the first thing we built and deployed, so having the simplicity was nice.

Google Compute Engine is not just fast. It’s Google fast.
The backend is written in node.js and is deployed using Google Compute Engine. I wanted to learn Kubernetes but it seemed more complicated and also more expensive than GCE. We also use mongodb.
