It may or may not sell, but it would at last give you another source of revenue (Steam) or if released for free via like itch.io or something you could give out to your patrons or followers/fans, or you could release episode 1 for free and charge for the rest. Once you get the first episode done, and figure out the engine/game or work with others who can do this, everything else is just content creation. I'm specifically rferring to a visual novel here that is like a choose your own adventure or narrated partially animated fiction, not a full on 2D or 3D game like a platformer or adventure although that would also be possible but require way more risk/time and scope.
