Pi-hole is a multi-platform, network-wide ad blocker.
Mid 2000s were the first time I encountered malware with ads. We still hear stories about them sometimes. IDK why anyone runs without ublock origin at this point. Also, pi-hole for apps (tablet/phone/etc.).

The best ad blocker for Android. Free and open source.
This was going to recommend Blokada as well. But don't download it from Play Store. Google doesn't allow VPN-based adblockers in the Play Store and Blokada 6 is a cloud-based subscription app. Download Blokada 5 from here: https://blokada.org/. If you have a Samsung phone, Blokada 5 is in the Galaxy Store. It's also available in F-Droid if you're using that app store as well.
