If you paste the url into https://archive.ph/ it will probably have an archived version you can view for free. Works on every news site I've tried it on so far; NYT, WaPo, Forbes, etc. Use the "I want to search the archive for saved snapshots" option first, the other is for urls that nobody has entered yet.
