I personally would recommend MEAN or MERN to learn, just go all in full stack, trying to understand how the back end development is linked with frontend. There are a ton of open sourced projects for these stacks that you can pull the repos of and see exactly what's under the hood and play with the code. Using them will give you good visual representation on how the code works.
