Unfortunetaly I couldn't get your regex working in PHP itself, even though I could see it working on regex101.com. It kept complaining about certain symbols such as `]` which is daft.

Yeah it's weird isn't it, jsonlint.com and PHP's json_decode() don't seem to mind.
