Do not gamble with the house. Gamble with yourself. Setup a system using random.org, a shuffled deck of cards or some other source of randomness to determine what you can do with your income after necessary expenses. Perhaps if you 'lose' then some money goes into long term savings and some money goes into a gambling pot. If you 'win' then you get to spend the money in the gambling pot on whatever you want. Maybe set up your own system to integrate some unpredictability in your budget. It is important than when you are craving some unnecessary product you focus on feeling hope for you next random draw instead of feeling bad because you have to budget.
