Does anyone know why this is happening? I have a feeling i mightve picked up a virus recently as this only started happening around 2 or 3 hours ago. No drops in performance yet, however i fear for what the future holds.

Two ways, Autoruns by Microsoft (download is right at the top of the "article") and you scan everything in there (basically startup applications + register autostarts + taskscheduler autostarts).
