Recommendations for finding house/dog sitters in the area?

Rover Nextdoor
  1. 1
Find a loving dog sitter near you. Book trusted sitters and dog walkers who'll treat your pets like family.
A lot of people suggest rover.com, but probably because of the rules the site uses to govern the sitters advertised, I consider them expensive for a drop-in service. If you're looking for someone to stay at your house, the per-service seems a little more reasonable, but they aren't cheap and based on the site rules, I don't think you can really negotiate much offbook..

When we first got here, there was a teen on my street who hustled doing odd jobs, so we hired him to feed the dogs and let them out twice a day. When he got too old, we paid a friend of my son from a couple of streets over. This last time, because our regular kid was out of town, we contacted an adult woman who hustles on nextdoor.com doing odd jobs including dog walking, but she was fully booked, so we asked a different neighbor kid and probably gave them their first job.
