Consider a mounting bracket directly off your laptop such as https://tenonedesign.com/mountie.php or https://tenonedesign.com/mountieplus.php - there's some cheaper ones on general store sites like alibaba/ebay too. You could buy a large enough tablet and just mount it above your laptop display so it's raised as well, and ditch the separate keyboard+mouse.

Consider also a regular ipad/android/windows tablet. There's probably plenty of used ones out there. On the ipad, apps like https://astropad.com/ support windows, assuming there's something similar on windows.
