Make sure you are typing with proper techniques (i.e. Index fingers on the F and J key respectively, etc.) and then keep practicing. keybr.com, monkeytype.com, 10fastfingers.com are good places to start. Your typing speed could be limited by your ability to spell the words too, so be patient and I'm sure you'd get to the speed that you want.

  3. Learn & Teach Typing, Free! Perfect for all ages & levels, K-12 and beyond.
Hi. I am 15 but I learned to touch type when I was 14. At the start I also ended up getting around 40 wpm. I would suggest to practice all keys again on typing.com which gives you lessons for free that help you to build muscle memory. I would suggest you to start doing typing test daily for around 5 minutes. You will get used to the keys more and more and at one point you will reach an average speed of 60, just like I did. Then it is all about practicing over and over and trying to get faster. I am currently sitting at around 80 wpm which I belive is pretty good for a 15 year old...
