PSA: the most common way to get hacked is reusing your email password for other accounts. [If your email is compromised in a data breach](https://haveibeenpwned.com/) it will be published on what I would imagine is a pay-to-access list of compromised emails+password combinations where individual hackers will attempt to log into your account, see what is linked to it, and use your email password combination on the linked website. If you have personal information such as your phone number in any emails the hacker can use that to perform a sim swap where they can essentially call your cell provider to give them access to using your phone number. This allows them to bypass 2FA if you do not use an authenticator app.
