Well you, I, and anybody else on the internet can go to https://aws.amazon.com/, sign up, and start launching servers & other services at any one of the 25+ public regions around the world that Amazon has. And Amazon has direct connections between most/all of those regions, so if you need to transfer data from a region in Virginia to a region in Australia then it can be carried entirely across their own internal networks.
