Another brick I have to smash. Now, I could have sworn I've seen programs which could root the type of CPU that the tablet has, the MT8163. I think the one that comes to my mind is the SP Flash Tool. I'll check that out next and see what exploit it relies on. Without seeing if it's compatible with chipset, I find a couple of links to it. I cannot verify if they're official, but I read through them. I hope to find if whatever SP Flash tool does works on the chipset I have. This smells to me like an exploit-based root. I don't trust it and I have to deconstruct it. Unlike the previous MTK Droid tool I linked, the SP Flash Tool seems to be maintained by credible devs and can be compiled on Linux. In fact, I've downloaded and installed the SP Flash Tool a while ago and it's just been chilling on my Linux Mint laptop's hard disk. I forgot where I've downloaded it, or if it's even safe to use, but I think this link offers a good amount of downloads for it and seems to be the least sketchy one I found (still have your adblock up tho): https://spflashtool.com/ and spflashtools.com (different links btw). What's worse, I feel like SP Flash Tool likely will not help me here. However, some on the forums have said that other MTK models can have this work, but I would assume the vulns would be completely different. But it wasn't all for nothing, as I happened to realize the purpose of /dev/block.
